The Aboriginal people of Australia are the first known culture to heal with sound. Their ‘yidaki’ ( or didgeridoo) has been used as a healing tool for at least 40,000 years. The Aborigines healed broken bones, muscle tears and illnesses of every kind using this instrument. Interestingly, the sounds emitted by the didgeridoo are in alignment with modern sound healing technology. (https://www.tokenrock.com/sound_healing/sounds_of_the_ancients/)
In his article entitled “Music, Medicine, Healing, and the Genome Project,” Dr. Assad Meymandi wrote, “Since ancient times, music has been recognized for its therapeutic value. Greek physicians used flutes, lyres, and zitters to heal their patients. They used vibration to aid in digestion, treat mental disturbance, and induce sleep. Aristotle (323–373 BCE) wrote that flute music could arouse strong emotions and purify the soul. Ancient Egyptians describe musical incantations for healing the sick.”
Solfeggio frequencies make up the ancient 6-tone scale thought to have been used in the sacred music of the Benedictine monks from the 11th century, including the beautiful and well known Gregorian Chants. They are considered by many musicologists and scientists to have a positive effect on the mind and body.
The Benedictine monks used the original six Solfeggio frequencies – 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, and 852 Hz – in their Gregorian chants. Esoteric beliefs state that each of these frequencies hold specific potentials to heal, liberate, and transform our lives.
According to Dr. Alan Watkins, a neuroscience lecturer at Imperial College in London, Gregorian chants -- and thus, solfeggio frequencies -- have a measurable influence on human psychology and physiology. Those who perform the chants experience lowered heart rates and blood pressure while they’re singing. Other research suggests that singing the ancient chants relieves fatigue and alleviates depression. Scientists have also observed that monastic singers require much less sleep, often as little as two hours a day. (https://www.gaia.com/article/healing-frequencies-of-the-ancient-solfeggio-scale)
